Course 4
Making a “Cutting Edge Crafts” app to sell your maker creations

Unit 2 – Building the app features

We will follow one of Adalo’s App Academy courses to help us in this unit. The App Academy and Adalo’s help pages are a great way to learn more about making apps in Adalo, and to benefit from the experience of other app designers.

Go to https://appacademy.adalo.com/course/shopping-cart  to start this course. You will have to create a login in App Academy.

You can skip through lessons that you already know, or you can watch the video at a faster speed if you find that part easy.

During the course, pause at the following stages to think about these questions:

Location of user

You should decide the places that you can ship your items - will you start by shipping only within the country you live in? You should make sure you know the price of shipping and any taxes you have to pay for different countries.

Price changes

Can you create an easy way to change the price of items, for example if you have a sale or some items start to cost more to make.

Creating a community

Can you develop a way to showcase the processes and creativity behind the pieces you (and other makers) are creating? You could have a discover page on the home screen of your app, and a way for users to follow particular types of items, or different makers.

Customising products

Some craft sites allow users to submit customization requests, like messages to write on the product, or a slight change to the product. Think about ways that you can make your items very personal to your customers. It could include their name or other option that makes the user more likely to buy it. You can add input components to get more information on any screen.

Once you have got your app working the way you want, you can start to test it with other people.
