Course 2
Making an “Memory Stream” app
Create a working app prototype where users can create posts about things that are important to them. You will create functions that let users sign in, write and save posts, and view their saved items.
Unit 1 – Idea generation and setup
Lesson 1 – Choosing a theme and branding
In this course we will use the app we developed in the last course, adding more screens, components and collections to give it more features.
Your app will be a way to collect memories - they can be places you have visited (like the Restaurants list we made in the last course), or things like ideas for art and craft projects, lyrics for songs or poems, or a record of your activities.

Your users will use the app to collect things that they want to remember for later. You should aim to make your app as specific as possible. This makes it more interesting and ensures that it will stand out from other apps. For example, if you like nature, you could create an app that allows users to collect photos of the animals and plants that you see.

You should use categories that you think your users will want to record and remember. Use whatever categories and functions you want. We will use our own examples for these lessons.

-
Write down a list of categories for your app. We will choose 5 different categories of “Memory Streams”: Restaurants, Activities, Ideas for 3D printing, Creative writing notes and Books to read.
-
Think about what a user will want to save for each category. For example our Restaurant page had a property for: name, photo, rating, notes and date. For a list of books to read we will need something different: name of book, summary of plot, type of book and recommended by.
-
Do a search on app stores for apps that are similar to your app. This will give you some inspiration for what to include in your app.
In the next lessons we will start building these new features.
